Kimmy Howard Photography Newborn Workshop: Part 1

The other weekend I had the amazing opportunity to attend Kimmy Howard Photography’s newborn workshop in Avon, IN. The added bonus to top it all off was that we began Friday evening with a prop trunk show with the amazing ladies from Devoted Knits and Goodnightmoon Props. I’ve admired their work from afar for some time, and I admittedly had to hold myself back from wanting to buy every single adorable item!

Kimmy was gracious enough to let us stay at her home that night so we could get an early start on Saturday. This also allowed us some relaxed time to chat together and get to know one another better. Then, bright and early the next morning we began the workshop with the most precious little girl, Aliyah.

As we began to shoot, Kimmy guided us through her setups, poses, angles and lighting. Of the many things I gained from this workshop, one of the most important to me was confidence. Another was the ease of flow that Kimmy has mastered over the years, and which I hope to be able to replicate myself in future shoots. On a more technical note, her custom white balance and lightroom tips are already new favorites to add to my “toolbox”!

I can’t thank Kimmy enough for the opportunity to attend her workshop and spend that Saturday working along side her and other photographers. And so, without further ado, here are my photographs from the first model of the day!
