My Two Cents: 5 [FREE] Fonts You’ll Want for Your Business

Fonts.

Love ’em or hate ’em you know they’re essential. They are also what makes or breaks a good brand, an elegant marketing piece, or anything else text-driven for that matter. If you know your way around fonts (you know, avoiding the cringe-worthy Comic Sans or the old school Papyrus), then bravo. You’re off to a good start. But if you’re stuck in a Bombshell Pro rut (raise your hand if you’ve at one time contemplated using — or used — it on all your marketing pieces… *raises hand*), then this post is for you.

You know you like something nice looking, but WHAT. You’ve used fonts like Helvetica, Calibri, Raleway and others for far too long. Well, let me help you get started with a few of my recent go-tos. These aren’t particularly new fonts, and they aren’t $50+ fonts either, they’re simply staple fonts that are appealing and best of all… FREE.

So, get ready for some clicking and downloading because we’re going to drive right in! In no particular order…

SACRAMENTOFONTS

Sacramento is in the style of cursive hand-lettering. It’s not trying too hard, it’s not pretending to be genuine handwriting, it’s just stylish, simple and fun! I used this font in the Meet Celeste section of my website. Cuz it looks puuurdy.

OPEN SANS

Ok, this might sound like a silly recommendation, but hear me out. This font is clean and straight forward. It also comes with a ton of different thicknesses and of course italics. I find this is a great font to pair with different styles of itself, as well as other types of fonts. I hate ads that are hard to read (who has time for that, right?) and this is one of my go-tos for easy-to-read, attractive ads.

PHOSPHATE

(note: avoid the ads pretending to be download links) In the market for a nice chunky font? Look no further than Phosphate. This is one of my new favorites because it’s got all the right kinds of chunk. Easy to read, thick letters, and very uniform. Not much more to say about this beaut!

ROBOTO SLAB

Are you searching for that perfect thin serif font? Well Roboto Slab has got your back. (Nixie One and Josefin Slab all similar and great as well). All of these are Google fonts so enjoy them in your website or wherever you see fit.

LECKERLI ONE

Want the baby of Sacramento and Phosphate? Well, I’m not sure this would be their baby but it’s close. Chunky and cursive meet in this font. Please don’t go write paragraphs full of it (that just looks tacky), but it can make some nice titles or headers!

But wait, where are the Bombshell Pro type fonts?? Well, I already gave you the link to Bombshell Pro if you want to buy it, but to be truly original with hand-lettered calligraphy, go find yourself an actual REAL LIFE calligrapher! Or shell out some dinero for fonts like Jaques + Gilles or Ondise.

Hope you enjoyed these fonts and if you have questions or a comment, feel free to post below! I love to hear from my readers 🙂

Happy typing!
